Environmental Treasures: Pine Island Adventure

On Saturday, February 15, 10:00 AM, (Rain Date: Sunday, February 16, 11:00 AM)meet Quincy's new environmental scientist, Julie Sullivan, as we travel at low tide to a remote island in Black's Creek.  We will learn about the environmental benefits of salt marshes, estuaries, oak trees and more!  Dress warmly.  We will be walking through a marsh in possibly a couple of inches of water to get to the island.  Waterproof boots are required.  Binoculars and a walking stick or ski pole are recommended.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration is required.  Meet at the intersection of Thornton Street and Meadowbrook Road.

Please call (617) 472-0799 on Saturday morning after 8:30 a.m. to see if tour will be rescheduled.  Even if it is a beautiful sunny day, if conditions are too icy, the tour will be rescheduled. The salt marsh and island can have snow and ice even when the rest of Quincy is bare.
