Seeking Volunteers for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Are you the type of person that wants to get out and help your community in the event of an emergency? Interested in learning how to set up and run evacuation shelters? Want to assist public safety professionals during disaster situations? Then the City of Quincy has a volunteer opportunity for you!

Quincy Emergency Management in collaboration with the Quincy Police Department and Brewster Ambulance will hold a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course beginning in February 2020.

The course will meet for eight weekly sessions where participants will receive training in disaster preparedness, basic sheltering, light search and rescue, medical operations, and fire safety. CERT training offers an approach to volunteer training and organization that provides members with the knowledge to assist public safety professionals during disaster situations. Through CERT training, citizens can enhance their overall capabilities to prepare for and assist others in their community when disasters strike. Course registration is ongoing and Quincy residents will have priority.
