On Monday, October 22, 2018, at approx. 9:22pm, Officer Waters responded to a Channing Street residence on a report of a past breaking & entering. She spoke with a resident and learned that the suspect(s) entered the home via the basement door and stole numerous items. At that time, Detective Pepdjonovich and Lt. Detective Guarente responded to process the scene.
On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, Detective Chen obtained video surveillance from a home in close proximity to the above break. The video showed the front end of a light colored Cadillac SUV and two individuals walking along the sidewalk. Detective Chen noted that the Cadillac had a loud muffler.
At approx. 6:30pm on October 23rd, Detective Lt. Guarente was in the area of Channing Street conducting a follow-up investigation when he observed a tan colored Cadillac SUV. He noted that despite the fact his windows were up, he was able to hear the loud muffler of the SUV. Lt. Guarente kept surveillance on the vehicle. A query of the vehicle revealed that the registered owner, Paul Bradley, had been previously found guilty of breaking & entering charges. He watched as the vehicle pulled onto Royal Street and parked. The two occupants then exited the vehicle and walked town Royal Street towards Vassal Street. Approx. 10-15 minutes later, the two occupants then returned to the vehicle and the vehicle drove off.
Based on his observations, Lt. Guarente requested the vehicle to be stopped. The occupants were identified as Paul Bradley and Ut Nguyen. Officer Waters, who was now on scene, interviewed Ut Nguyen. Mr. Nguyen admitted to Officer Waters that he was the "lookout" for Mr. Bradley as he broke into a home on Royal Street. He directed the officers to the home, where officers observed signs of a break. Mr. Nguyen also stated that a camera was stolen from the home on Royal Street. A camera was located in the center console of the SUV.
Paul Bradley, 40, of Billings Street, Quincy, and Ut Nguyen, 34, of Coleman St, Dorchester were arrested and charged with Breaking & Entering in the Night with the Intent to Commit A Felony for the break that occurred on Royal Street. Both were held on $7,500 cash bail and are expected to be arraigned at Quincy District Court today.
No further charges have been filed at this time, pending follow-up investigation into the break that occurred on Channing Street on 10/22/2018.
