Please welcome Officer Cian O'Connor. Cian is a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard. Prior to joining QPD, he served five years of active duty service in the Air Force.
We asked him some questions so you could get to know him a little better.
Q: Why did you want to become a police officer and when did you realize that was what you wanted to do?
A: I have wanted to be a police officer since I was a kid. I want to make a difference in the community that I grew up in.
Q: What activities do you enjoy on your time off?
A: Working out, traveling and watching movies.
Q: What do you think will be the toughest part of this job?
A: Learning all the streets and neighborhoods. I have lived in Quincy for over 20 years and there are still parts of the city I’m unfamiliar with.
Q: What was your favorite subject in the academy and why?
APP (Applied Patrol Procedures). It was good to put everything we’ve learned throughout the academy together to respond to training scenarios.
Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to join the military and become a police officer and I’ve accomplished both those goals.
Q: What is something interesting about yourself that others may not know?
A: I have been to 20 countries. Wow!
Officer O’Connor is currently assigned to the overnight shift. If you happen to be out late, or up early, and run into him, please make it a point to welcome him!
