Stolen Firearm Recovered After Shots Fired in Parking Lot

On Saturday, July 28, 2018, Officer Smith was monitoring the area of 50 Revere Rd in the parking lot of Kelly's Cellar bar. At approx. 12:30am, he observed an altercation between two men. As he made his way across the parking lot to intervene, he observed one of the males discharge a firearm at the other. Officer Smith drew his firearm and gave several commands for the male, now identified as Curtis Gordon, to drop his weapon and show him his hands. Mr. Gordon ignored the commands. Officer Smith repeated his commands. Mr. Gordon, who had his back to Officer Smith, then looked at Officer Smith and ducked down behind a parked car. He then turned around with his hands empty and stated " I work here, I work here!". Officer Smith then ordered Mr. Gordon to the ground.

Officer McNeil, who had arrived on scene, located the firearm on top of the passenger side rear tire of a vehicle The firearm was a loaded Glock 27 .40 caliber pistol. Officer Smith demanded to see Mr. Gordon's license to carry a firearm. Mr. Gordon stated that he did not have one so he was placed under arrest.
