Next up for introduction is Officer Matthew Benvie. Matt served 13 years in the United States Army.
Q: Why did you want to become a police officer and when did you realize that it was what you wanted to do?
A:To better serve my community and to have a positive impact with the citizens of Quincy. I realized I wanted to become an officer in high school.
Q: What activities do you enjoy on your time off?
A: Running, hiking, and traveling
Q: What's the best advice you have ever received?
A: To listen more, talk less.
Q: What was the last book you read?
A: Confederacy of Dunces
Q: What do you think will be the toughest part of the job?
A: Knowing the territory.
Q: What was your favorite subject in the academy?
A: Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC). EVOC is a driver training program that provides recruits with the special driving skills required to operate a vehicle under very demanding police patrol conditions.
Q: What is something interesting about yourself that others may not know?
A: I am one of 8 kids. (And we've heard at least one has also sworn to protect and serve)
