Environmental Treasures: Exploring Granite and Geminids!

Wednesday, December 13, 2017, 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM

On this night time adventure, we will visit the newly opened Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum at 8:00 PM,  meeting at the Lyons Turning Mill, Quarry Hills Drive, off Ricciutti Drive (on the way to Granite Links Golf Course).  Following the tour, we will drive down to the very dark parking lot of the Soccer Fields off Ricciutti Drive to look for the Geminid meteor shower.

The Geminids are considered to be one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year and on these dates the showers will be at their peak.  You might want to bring a flashlight, a reclining beach chair for comfortable viewing of the sky and a blanket or sleeping bag to keep warm.  You can stay for as long or as short a time as you like up to 10:00 PM

If the night is overcast, the tour will be rescheduled for Thursday, December 14 unless the weather report for Thursday is also bad in which case we will just do the museum tour Wednesday night.

Please call (617) 472-0799 after 6:00 PM to determine the date of the program and for more information
