The Quincy Police Marine Unit, in partnership with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, will be presenting three Basic Boating Safety Courses at no cost to the public. These courses are designed for persons 12 years old and up, regardless of boating skill.
Courses are nationally approved, and course completion will allow persons to legally operate a boat in states requiring Basic Boating Safety Courses. Everyone who completes the course will be issued a Basic Boating Safety Certificate. All graduates in the 12 through 15 year-old age group will be legally allowed to operate a motorboat without adult supervision. The same is true for 16 and 17 year old youths who wish to operate a personal watercraft (jet ski, wave runner, etc.). In addition, some insurance companies offer policy discounts for customers that complete a Basic Boating Safety Course.
All of the above courses will be taught at the Houghs Neck Community Center, located at 1193 Sea Street (Same building as the Manet Community Health Center).
To register for a course go to the Massachusetts Environmental Police Department website by clicking here. Fill out the MEP Boating Safety Course Online Enrollment Form using the course ID for the course you want to attend.
