The Vital Statistics department provides assistance to the public in reference to birth, marriage, and deaths; dog licenses, clam licenses, business certificates, and genealogy research. The department records all city contracts; records declaration of trusts, and daily mail requests. We also provide notary services.

If you are being married in Massachusetts you may apply for a License in any city or town hall, both persons must be 18. Both persons must be present to apply (unless one person is in active military duty).
The fee is $45.00 to apply for a marriage license and there is a three day waiting period for the license to be ready. Couples may obtain a court waiver to waive the three days at district court, if necessary.
