FREE BASIC BOATING SAFETY COURSES ROVIDED BY QUINCY POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Quincy Police Marine Unit, in partnership with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, will be presenting three Basic Boating Safety Courses at no cost to the public.  These courses are designed for persons of all ages, regardless of boating skill.

Courses are nationally approved, and course completion will allow persons to legally operate a boat in states requiring Basic Boating Safety Courses. Everyone who completes the course will be issued a Basic Boating Safety Certificate.  Completion of the course by persons between 12 to 16 years of age will allow them to operate a motor boat without adult supervision. You must be at least 12 years old to register for the class.  In addition, some insurance companies offer policy discounts for customers that complete a Basic Boating Safety Course.

All of the courses will be taught at the Hough's Neck Maritime Center, located at 137 Bay View Ave. (next to the Quincy Yacht Club on Sea Street).

The three courses will be taught on the following dates:

1. Saturday afternoon class 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM , March 26, Apr 2, Apr 9

2. Tuesday evening class 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Apr 12, Apr 19, Apr 26

3. Saturday morning class 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM , Apr 30, May 7, May 14

To register for a course or for more information please call the Massachusetts Environmental Police Department at 508-759-0002.
