New activity at the Kennedy Center

An Environmental Notification Form (ENF) has been submitted to the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) office for the Edgewater Drive seawall project. The project consists of the repair of the 2,900-foot long Edgewater Drive seawall located on the eastern side of Hough's Neck in the City of Quincy by the Quincy Department of Public Works. The existing seawall is currently experiencing deterioration and damage in areas with loss of backfill, loss of mortar, wall subsidence, and poorly operating outfall pipes. The project will include repair of the existing concrete wall, the addition of revetment stone, replacement of all stair railings and repair of concrete stairs, and reconstruction of the two outfall pipes and improvements to associated tide gates.

A consultation session will be held by the MEPA office to receive advice and comments from agencies, officials, and citizens regarding which environmental issues, if any, are significant for this project. Opinions as to the extent and significance of possible environmental impact will be welcome.

Comments on the project will be welcome in writing prior to February 14, 2012. A Certificate on the ENF will be issued on February 24, 2012.
