Building, Zoning and Conservation Clinics

In order to help small property owners with their construction projects, the City of Quincy Inspectional Services Department offers instructional clinics for Quincy homeowners who are interested in applying for building permits.

The clinics are held every Thursday afternoon from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at:

There is no fee for the clinics and no appointment is required. Homeowners will be seen on a first come first served basis. Department staff will be available to answer questions concerning building, zoning or conservation issues.

We can arrange to have an interpreter available if required.

Graffiti

Graffiti is a crime that has long lasting impacts on the community.  It drains tax dollars and private funds and sends a message that nobody cares about the area in which it appears. The best way to prevent graffiti is to remove it as quickly as possible.

Potholes

The City of Quincy has a Pothole hotline to address potholes as soon as possible.  Potholes are not only a roadway distraction but in many cases if left unattended can cause serious damage to vehicles.  Some years are worst than others, depending on the severity of the winter.  The City of Quincy makes every effort to have them filled in as quickly as possible.  To report a pothole, please contact the pothole hotline.

Assessors

The Assessing Department of the City of Quincy is responsible for:

  • Maintaining and updating the Real Estate Data Records of the City
  • Maintaining the Real Estate Ownership records of the city
  • Maintaining the Personal (Business) Property records of the City
  • Classifying Real Estate as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Open Space
  • Determining the Full Fair Cash Value of Real Estate for the purpose of taxation
  • Administering the Motor Vehicle and Boat Excise Taxes for the city
  • Administering Abatements, Exemptions and Deferrals in accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws
