Curbside collection of yardwaste has ended until spring 2013.
The City of Quincy recycles and reuses all its yardwaste diverting over 5,000 tons from the solid waste stream and saving nearly $500,000 annually. Curbside collection of yardwaste is provided for 18 weeks a year from March through November.

YARDWASTE STICKERS are mandatory on yardwaste BARRELS. Free yardwaste stickers are available at the City Hall Information Desk, 1305 Hancock St., the DPW, 55 Sea Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Curry Hardware, 370 Copeland St. and Danny's Hardware, 53 Billings Rd. You may also call (617) 376-1953 or email your request to: recyclequincy@quincyma.gov to have stickers mailed.
Instructions for Curbside Collection
USE NO PLASTIC BAGS. Place leaves, twigs and grass clippings in paper bags or cardboard boxes. Barrels should be uncovered and clearly marked with yardwaste stickers. Yardwaste should be placed curbside by 6:00 A.M. on your regular trash collection day. Yardwaste should be set apart from regular trash. Tree branches should be cut into 3-foot lengths and tied with string or rope.
Yardwaste, including larger brush and tree limbs, will be accepted at the DPW Yard at 55 Sea St., Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 3 P.M., and on Saturdays from April 10 through mid-December, from 7:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Don't Trash Grass!
One-half acre of lawn in New England produces over 3 tons, or 260 bags of grass clippings each year. You can have a healthy lawn by leaving grass clippings where they fall so they will decompose and act as a natural organic fertilizer. E-mail recyclequincy@quincyma.gov for a free brochure.
Compost Bins Avaiable
Through a grant from the MA Department of Environmental Protection the City of Quincy DPW offers home sized compost bins for a special rate of $45 each. The Earth Machine is available in the rear yard of the DPW, 55 Sea St. Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3 PM and Saturdays until mid-December from 7:30 to 2:30.

HOLIDAYS Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, that day's collection and all remaining collection days for the rest of the week will be delayed for one day. Friday's collection will be on Saturday.
