The DPW Yard is located behind the administrative offices at 55 Sea St. Access to the Yard is available from the Sea St. parking lot adjacent to the Police Station and also from Broad St., off of Southern Artery across from McDonalds.
The DPW yard is not a landfill and cannot accept household trash and construction debris.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. and on Saturdays beginning April 7, 2012 through mid-December, from 7:30 to 2:30.
YEAR-ROUND DROP-OFF PROVIDED FOR RESIDENTS
The DPW Yard will accept the following from Quincy residents. Proof of residency may be required at any time:
All Scrap Metal
Appliances Washers, Dryers, Water Heaters, Stoves, Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, TVs, and Monitors
To have refrigerators and air conditioners removed from inside your home for FREE call Anything Metal Removal Service at 781-385-1404.
Single Stream Recycling Place all items into one dumpster, NO SEPARATING. All paper, all colors, (clips and staples OK), Paperboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes), Newspapers, Magazines, Telephone Books, Soft Cover Books, Junk Mail, Envelopes, Cardboard, Paper Bags All Plastic Bottles and Containers, Milk, Juice Bleach/Detergent Jugs and Cartons, Shampoo Bottles, Clean Food Containers (cottage cheese, margarine, yogurt) Glass Bottles/Jars, all colors, Clean Aluminum (plates/trays/foil), Clean Metal Cans (tin/steel/aluminum), Empty Aerosol Cans (paint/hairspray/cleaners). NO Paper Towels, Napkins, Toilet Paper, Plastic Bags, Dishes, Ceramics, Pyrex, Fabric, Foam Packaging, Styrofoam, Food or Food Contaminated Items.
All electronics, TVs/Monitors Benefit Quincy Veterans Council. Proof of residency required.
Mercury containing items such as florescent bulbs, Ni-cad and Lithium batteries, thermostats, and thermometers may be brought to the DPW Yard. See the Mercury link below.
Books Bring every type and style of book on any topic or subject to the collection box in the DPW Yard. Donated books benefit the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library.
Yardwaste Leaves, grass, branches and twigs.
Commercial Landscapers and vehicles with commercial plates are no longer accepted at the DPW yard as of January 1, 2011.
The DPW yard does NOT accept:
Oil and Gasoline, Trash, Tires, Wood, or Construction Debris. We also cannot take Latex or Oil Paints or any Chemicals.
Most Construction Debris can be brought to the Braintree Transfer Station, 257 Ivory St., (across from the Braintree "T" Station) For more information call 781-843-6209
