South Shore HOME Consortium

HOME Program

Overview
HOME provides formula grants to States and localities that communities use-often in partnership with local nonprofit groups-to fund a wide range of activities that build, buy, and/or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership or provide direct rental assistance to low-income people. HOME is the largest Federal block grant to State and local governments designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households.

HOME Consortium
A HOME Consortium consists of contiguous Units of General Local Governments (UGLGs) that separately may not qualify to receive HOME funds. UGLGs can join together to form a consortium for the purpose of receiving and administering the HOME Program as a single Participating Jurisdiction (PJ).

Quincy Consortium Members

The City of Quincy is the lead community of the South Shore HOME Consortium, a decision-making body comprised of the following communities: the City of Quincy, Town of Weymouth, the Town of Braintree, the Town of Holbrook, and the Town of Milton. Eligible HOME funded activities include the construction of new affordable housing units, First Time Homebuyer, Downpayment Assistance, Housing Rehabilitation, and rental assistance.
