- A grave or lot in a cemetery under the jurisdiction of the City of Quincy may be purchased only by a resident of the City of Quincy, Massachusetts and must be paid for at the time of purchase.
- The transfer of the right of burial of any grave or lot must be approved by the Board of Managers
- No lots or graves may be sold by the deed holder or their heirs to any other person. Lots or graves must be returned to the Cemetery Department. The original amount tendered will be returned upon receipt of the deed. If the original purchase price is unknown, the amount of $40.00 per grave will be allowed by the Board of Managers. Perpetual care amount will not be refunded.
- Original deeds and duplicate deeds will be issued by the Department of Public Burials for a fee.
- Permission MUST be obtained from the General Foreman of the Department of Public Burials for any work contemplated in the cemetery, such as cutting in flowerbeds, planting trees or otherwise disturbing the grounds.
- Planting rose bushes or placing fences or mounds over graves or stone enclosures around the lots or graves is strictly prohibited. Flowerbeds shall not exceed the width of the grave and should not extend more than 15” in front of the monument.
- Employees will take reasonable care when mowing the grass, but neither the City of Quincy, the Board of Managers, the General Foreman, nor any employees attached to the Cemetery Department will be responsible for any damage to plants, shrubs, monuments or pictures embossed on or attached to a monument.
- Acting in the best interest of the Cemetery Department, the General Foreman shall have the authority to remove or transplant anything upon the lots or graves wherever or whenever he shall deem necessary.
- All Christmas decorations shall be removed by March 15. By June 30, all potted plants or anything that will interfere with the maintenance of the cemetery will be removed.
- Pets are not allowed in the cemetery.
- Only human remains shall be buried in any cemetery under the jurisdiction of the Cemetery Department.
- The use of vigil lights or vases is not allowed in the cemeteries.
- All funeral services which utilize burning pots will ensure that pots are not placed on cemetery greens and are extinguished before leaving the area. If any offerings of food are left at the gravesite, they shall be placed in a suitable container or plastic bag so it will not attract animals or create a health hazard. Use of live animals as part of a funeral service or anniversary is prohibited.
- The Board of Managers may be petitioned for a hearing of a special request or complaint.
- These revised rules and regulations shall supercede all others.
